Chickens In Your Backyard by Rick & Gail Luttmann (a good basic introduction on raising chickens on your backyard farm)
The Busy Person's Guide to Preserving Food by Janet Chadwick (the title says it all! And it has lots of practical recipes and a terrific introducition!)
The Backyard Homestead edited by Carleen Madigan (I LOVE this book, it has info on EVERYTHING you need to know! A terrific resource!)
Made From Scratch by Jenna Woginrich (this was a nice story that inspires you to start your own backyard homestead and has some good resources, too)
Reader's Digest Vegetable Gardening (this book has everything you need to know about both organic and mostly-organic gardening with some extra bonuses)
Small Batch Preserving (has great recipes that don't require tons of produce in order to can)
Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving (everything you need to know about canning, freezing, and dehydrating with great recipes, too)
Joey Green's Gardening Magic (interesting and unconvential ideas and funny, too)
Living Like Ed by Ed Begley, Jr (I just liked the book and enjoyed the writing style he uses)
Squeaky Green by Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry (lots of info on all the toxic stuff in your home)
Saving God's Green Earth by Tri Robinson (good book about environmental stewardship)
Natural Cleaning For Your Home by Casey Kellar (recipes for homemade household cleaners that I really like)
