Attack Of The Weeds!

This is what our garden looked like before we left for MN...

While we were gone I set the timer and just let it be. Apparently the weather was perfect for growing because when we came home everything was HUGE, including the weeds!

this tomato plant was the same size as the stick
in front of it when we planted it!

our baby snow peas
So now I am at a loss for what to do. Pulling that much grass and weeds by hand is not practical or realistic. As a start, I cleared all the weeds from around the veggies. Pulling up that much vegetation and weeds unfortunately really disturbs the plants you do want. I just hope it all pulls out of the shock. It looks better but is still very weedy and sod bound.

I really wanted to keep the garden organic as much as possible, but now I am seriously considering RoundUp. Ahhh! What to do????

It doesn't look that bad to me... but of course it's hard to tell in the picture. But I bet you can weed that in a few days by hand. Just take one little one by one foot area and clear that first. Just think about weeding that one small area and then move on. That's what I do, and I think I had even more weeds then that before I started. It also helps tremendously if the ground is wet when you weed.
