Today was our first day of building our chicken coop. It kinda reminded me of an Amish barn raising. Except that none of us knew exactly what we were doing, we used power tools, and I was the only female around and did all the baking and cooking and making coffee by myself. But I did bake three loaves of Amish Friendship Bread this morning… :o) And I did help a little bit, too!
But I think we did a pretty good job considering we were essentially making it up as we went along and used only recycled or donated items for the whole thing so far!!!
prepping the old 4x4s from the treehouse that we didn’t need anymore
Will lends a hand in removing nails from the 2x4s
working to dig a little trench so that we can drop the walls into the ground to keep critters out
Betsy enjoyed laying in the sun and watching all the hubbub
it’s a good thing we remembered about the “egg door”
installing the “skylight”
the roof is done
cutting side panels
the boys brought the chicks out to play (they ran right back to us as soon as the saws started) :o)
Chris, Andy, Walt and Randy (hey, that rhymes!) worked really hard and got a lot done! Thanks for all your hard work guys!!! Me and the girls & Otis/Alice (we’re going to give this poor chick an identity crises) are really looking forward to it being all done!
they’re getting pretty big for the box…
but the new house will be ready soon!!!
