Creamy Blender Lotion

Today my friend Betsy taught us how to make homemade lotion. It is absolutely lovely and super easy to make! I made mine peppermint-orange because I love it so much for my feet.

Here is the recipe so you can try it yourself…

3 Tbsp oil (sweet almond, apricot kernel, avocado, or jojoba)

1 Tbsp cocoa butter

1 Tbsp vegetable glycerin

3 Tbsp emulsifying wax

8 oz distilled water

10 drops of each: vitamin E and grapefruit seed extract

Combine first 4 ingredients in glass measuring cup. Place in saucepan of water. Melt over medium heat. Meanwhile, measure water into blender. With blender on low, pour in oil mix.

Add drops of vitamin E and grapefruit seed extract. You should have a nice cream that will thicken as it sets. Add your choice of essential oils as desired. Pour into jars while still warm.

*You can also vary your lotion by using teas instead of water. We made a batch using water that had calendula steeped in it. It turned out beautiful!
