Bad News For Weeds

Weather that is good for growing gardens is also, unfortunately, good for growing weeds. And since our garden was tilled in some pretty hefty, sod-bound soil the grass is growing up, too.

Megan suggested laying down newspaper to suffocate the weeds and grass. I'm figuring all the bad news in the news will keep them from coming up. :o)

So today I laid out newspapers where the weeds and grass were the worst in hopes that it will die soon. Then next spring it will just get tilled back in.

It looks pretty hokey, so it had better work! :o)

Now we have grass clippings on the newspapers to help cook the grass and weeds underneath and provide mulch for the garden! And it looks much better!

you can put your grass clippings on top to hide it. The grass clippings make a great cover too, the idea is if they have no sun to grow they won't. Mulch mulch and mulch some more.
